In 1999, Orange New Hampshire artist Gary Hamel was enthusiastically preparing for his first trip to Italy to explore and paint in the famed Tuscan countryside. Gary had been in the Red Roof Frame Shop and Gallery previously and had wondered if the four room Gallery, at the time displaying framed posters and photography, wouldn't also offer a great opportunity for area artists to display their works and so appoached owner Bob McQuade about the possibility of doing a show with his Tuscany oils upon his return from Italy.
	A date was set for the show and Gary headed overseas. Gallery walls were repainted, invitations mailed out, area newspapers were notified, and food menus prepared for opening night. Gary returned with 24 wonderful small oils and we quickly framed them here at the frame shop. Gary personnally hung the show the day before the opening and we all nervously awaited the the following night's opening reception. Would the people come? Would the show be sucessful? An appreciative standing room only crowd the next evening washed away all doubts about the viability of a fine art gallery in Enfield, New Hampshire.
And so, in 1999 the Gallery discontinued the poster and photography displays, and when the Red Roof Frame Shop in West Lebanon was opened, that inventory was sent there for display, and the Enfield Gallery became a showplace for original art. Specializing in post impressionism and realism, the gallery has attracted a large and talented stable of local and regional artists, who, in turn, have developed a large following of area art patrons. The Gallery continues to grow and evolve with several one person and small group shows being held each year. In July, 2006, the first annual Floral Show will be held to coincide with the peak flowering period of the extensive perennial beds surrounding the gallery. This annual event will feature original works of more than 40 local and regional artists, with all containing a floral theme in still life, landscape, and abstract compositions in all imaginable medians.
